Research Thumb

Adobe Atmosphere was a 3d world creation tool for the internet. The worlds were linked together thru portals. Users would interact with the worlds, explore by navigating avatars, and communicate together with animation and a chat function. The software consisted of two parts, the builder and the player. The player was a Internet Explorer plug-in and the builder was the creation/authoring environment. There was also a Atmosphere "chat server" product used.

Here are some screenshots from two Adobe Atmosphere Worlds that I created before and during my time as a private beta tester for Adobe. The final Adobe Atmosphere software version, v1.0 build 216 was released in December 2004, unfortunately  it was discontinued by Adobe In December 2004.

NOTE THIS PLUG-IN IS NO LONGER SUPPORTED SO INSTALL AT YOUR OWN RISK: If you want to explore the worlds in 3d you need to install the Atmosphere player plug-in. The player works with Internet Explorer in Windows 95/98/ME/NT/2000/XP. Go here to download the plug-in(5.5MB), then close Internet Explorer and install. After you install the plug-in you can explore in 3D. Some of the functionality is missing since the Adobe Chat server is no longer up, so you can't chat with other users and some of the js scripts don't work :-( but you can get some idea anyway. Here are the links to load the worlds. You will be able to explore more at The Oracle's Labyrinth. The airship ride and bridge js script don't work at Enigma Station but you can still explore a bit.
