Tutorial
Now you will create a nose by creating a CV Curve on surface, a few additional CV curves, and finally a U Loft Surface..
Use the file you saved from Creating The Ear (StudentID#_BetterEAR.max.)
Now lets create the CV Curve On Surface.
Arrange your viewports so that you can see the tip of the snout. You will draw a CV Curve on Surface at the tip between CV Curve 04 and CV Curve 06.
On the General rollout, turn on
NURBS Creation Toolbox to display the toolbox. If it is closed.
In the toolbox, Click the Create CV
curve on surface.
In the front viewport move the cursor on the Head U Loft surface and draw a smooth half circle with about 7 CVs like the image below. The first and last CV should be right at the edge of the surface (edit the CVs after you create the CV Curve on surface if need be).
Now create the second curve.
Set the 3d snaps
settings to snap CV to CV to Curve End.
Right click 3d snap toggle.
Click "Clear All" for Standard and select CV and Curve End only for NURBS.
Close the dialog box and make sure 3d snaps are actually on
by left clicking.
Activate the Right
or Perspective view. In the Nurbs creation toolbox
Click the Create CV curve
button and create a CV Curve snapping from the first CV to the last CV of
the CV Curve on Surface you just created. See image below

Turn off 3d snaps
by left clicking.
Now you need to Rebuild the CV curve you just created. With the CV Curve selected, Click the "Rebuild" button under the CV curve rollout. In the "Rebuild CV Curve" dialog box change the number of CVs to 6.
Now since we want this curve to stay on the Z, Y plane use the Right viewport and edit the CVs to form the nose shape below.

Using the techniques from steps 2 through 4 create another CV Curve and edit the CV to form the middle CV curve

Now create the surface
By now creating a
U Loft surface should be simple for you. In the Nurbs Creation toolbox,
click Create U Loft Surface and
select the three nose curves. Flip normals if needed and that's it.
